Inmarsat-C is the world's most reliable, global, two-way mobile data messaging service. Each satellite has a backup, and for added system integrity, users are given the choice of two or more Inmarsat satellites in most areas of the world.

This system also provides access to an array of land-based communication services. With 44 Inmarsat-C Land Earth Stations (LES) in operation, and more on the way, users have immediate access to international communications networks. Users at the base station can instantly send and receive messages via PSDN, PSTN, or e-mail. Mobiles may be polled from a base station for position reports.
